Example of an Advertorial for Marketing a House
Have you heard of a dream house before? This one
might be the one for you.
"What will I miss the most about this house?" Megan's eyes
got a distant expression as it locked onto fond memories. It
was a few moments before she continued with her answer.
"It would be my bedroom."
My mind took a quick tour of the house, which I inspected
before my interview with the owners.
The main bedroom certainly is something special. It is big and
includes plenty of built-in wardrobes, a massive en-suite
bathroom with a corner bath, a walk-in shower, basin, toilet
and extra space for a washing machine and exercise
equipment. Then it has a sitting area where the couple can
hideaway after a hectic day, kicking out the footrests of their
dual recliner, watching their favourite TV program.
A gem for sociable people
This house has satellite dish connection points in three
areas - the bedroom suite, the living room, and the
lounge.
"Do you have any special memories of family life
in this house?" I asked.
"We haven't had the house for a long time,"
James answered, "we bought it because of its location
and because of this room." He showed me an
attractive, spacious room with a sliding door opening
onto the patio. This room even had a shower, and the
braai room a built-in braai.
In my mind, I immediately saw a granny flat or an
entertainment area opening onto a swimming pool area,
which one could develop. Imagine an early morning or
moonlight dip from your bedroom, or a pool party, since
you have plenty of space to accommodate many
people.
The perfect outlay for a business from home
"We bought the house to use this area for business."
He indicated the garden room, the living room and the
room just mentioned. "Now we want to semi-retire."
This house is excellent to use for business, I
thought. This house has potential.
As you enter the house during your viewing, you
will first find yourself in the living room. To your left you
enter the garage, ahead you see the braai room, and to
your right, I now invite you into the main house. As you
step into the practical kitchen with its ceramic hob and
eye level oven, the warmth of this house caresses your
soul.
Megan's words confirmed it to me when she
murmured: "I'm going to miss this kitchen." As I looked
at her, I captured the soft expression on her face.
"I take it you had many hours of happy cooking
and baking in here, Megan?" I asked.
She nodded quietly.
"And I had the privilege to eat it," James
commented.
A gardener's playground
The lounge is of moderate size, with another front door
opening to the side of the house into an exquisite
garden.
"Who's the gardener?" I asked.
James pointed to Megan.
"This front garden was here when we bought the
house," Megan said, "but the rear garden was
practically a desert with a porta-pool."
"A lot of her hard work and skills went into it,"
James said with pride.
Later, when I saw the rear garden, I was
astonished and understood James's pride in Megan.
With its water feature and lush vegetation, it certainly
was not a desert anymore.
"The automated sprinkler system we installed did
make a huge difference though," James said as a
matter of fact. "It takes one concern out of garden
maintenance."
From the lounge, a corridor leads to two smaller
bedrooms, one that has this cute little office adjacent to
it, the family bathroom, a large guest room and the main
bedroom suite, all with plenty of built-in wardrobes.
"I'm quite thrilled about this cupboard," Megan
said, opening a spacious cupboard at the top end of the
corridor, which stretches from the floor to the ceiling
and the full width of it. "It has plenty of storage space
for gadgets and linen."
"Would you like some coffee or tea," Megan
offered.
We went to sit in the shade of the big tree on the
patio next to the burbling waterfall. I took a sip of my
delicious tea.
"What is your favourite activity at this house?"
"To use this entertainment area for what it is,"
James said without hesitation. "We also love sitting
under this tree, having something to eat or drink,
listening to the waterfall and the birds."
What is the area like, and how are the
neighbours?
"What are your neighbours like?" Whilst they take turns
to elaborate, I met several very nice people in my
imagination. A playschool owner lives across the street,
a high school teacher next to them, and on both sides
live very friendly and helpful technical experts.
I hear of regular social gatherings in the street
and neighbours watching one another's backs.
"Your children are grown," I said, "but what do you
know about the schools in the area?"
"The Brackenfell secondary and primary schools
are about a kilometre from here, both I believe to be
good schools," Megan said. "Then we have the Paarl
School for challenged children even closer."
"Where do you shop?" I asked, knowing that
potential buyers would certainly be interested in the
shops in the area.
"Brackenfell is a Shopping Mecca in the Northern
suburbs," James replied. "One kilometre in that
direction we have the Cape Gate shopping mall," he
said, pointing in one direction, "and one kilometre in that
direction we have a hypermarket. Among a plethora of
shops, we have another hypermarket about a kilometre
further on. Surrounding these suburbs are many
industrial areas serving the community with any service
you can think of."
Is this in a safe neighbourhood?
"Now for the question on everyone's lips..." I
paused for effect. "What is the crime like in the area?"
"This is a quiet street. We hardly see any cars,
leave alone strangers hanging around, possibly due to
the shape of the crescent."
"Yes, the kids often play ball in the street."
"We also have a few police officers living in the
area and often see the neighbourhood watch drive by."
"This house is equipped with an alarm system,
which could be monitored and maintained by an armed
response company. We use the alarm but stopped the
armed response because we feel so safe."
To me, it was a pleasant experience to visit this
house and meet the people.
As I think back on what I observed, I realised you will buy for yourself:
A lovely entertainment area with the potential to install a swimming pool.
A potential flat or even a workshop or studio.
A stunning bedroom suite from where you can access your swimming, you had installed, for a late-night dip.
Three more bedrooms of which one is ideal to use as a study.
A family bathroom that consists of a walk-in shower, toilet, and basin.
A lounge, living room, braai/dining room and good sized kitchen.
A double garage large enough for a workbench and storage, including a remote control motorized garage
door.
A lovely garden with an automatic sprinkler system and two water features.
An alarm system.
Ample off road parking.
Attractive spiked fence with intercom, gate with electronic lock as well as a remote control motorized motor
gate.
Quick access to the N1 highway and all the suburbs lining the way to Cape Town city centre and the
Waterfront.
Proximity to schools, shops and businesses, a sports club, and other entertainment.
A secure and safe neighbourhood.
If I were you, I would not delay contacting Agent Doe at 123456789 for viewing since this house is a ready-to-
move-in gem.
